Reflecting on My Journey: The End of Virtually Liz

Dear Friends,

It has been an honor to serve as your virtual assistant these past few years. I launched Virtually Liz during the COVID-19 pandemic with a simple goal: to help friends and community members maintain visibility during an unprecedented season of uncertainty. What started as a modest effort grew into something meaningful—a platform where your business pages came alive through authentic marketing that showcased your mission, hard work, and dedication.

This wasn’t my first venture in building community. Thirteen years ago, when I moved to Dutchess County with my four children, I created a Facebook group where neighbors could safely barter, buy, and donate gently used items. As a single mom facing the challenge of replacing nearly everything we owned, I knew I couldn’t be alone in needing such a resource. The Dutchess County Garage Sale was born from that need, and while it remains a modest group, it grew to over 15,000 members over the years.

Seeing that growth and recognizing my passion for creative work, I decided to launch Virtually Liz. You gave me the opportunity to design graphic social media content for your businesses, and for that trust and belief in me, I am deeply grateful.

Now, in December 2025, much has changed. Facebook has built its own marketplace, technology has advanced in extraordinary ways, and the virtual assistant landscape has become intensely competitive. Small operations like mine, committed to working organically, struggle to remain viable in this new environment.

After exploring various options and reviewing the numbers with my accountant, the reality became clear: “Liz, this is more a hobby than a small business.” The financial sustainability just isn’t there. It is with a heavy heart that I announce Virtually Liz will cease providing services effective December 31, 2025.

I am truly grateful for the friends who have become family throughout this journey. Thank you for trusting me with your businesses and for being part of this chapter of my life. I wish you and yours a beautiful Holiday Season and a blessed New Year.

With gratitude,

Liz
